Prime Minister and Head of Government of Cameroon Visits Washington, DC

The Prime Minister and Head of Government of the Republic of Cameroon, His Excellency Philemon YANG, arrived in Washington, DC on Sunday, 25 April 2010, to take part at the 4th US-Africa Infrastructure Conference organized by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA). The Prime Minister was welcomed on arrival at the Dulles International Airport by the Ambassador of Cameroon to the United States, His Excellency Joseph Bienvenu Charles FOE-ATANGANA.

During his stay in the capital of the United States, Prime Minister Philemon Yang shall meet with officials of the Obama Administration and some members of Congress. He shall equally hold talks with officials of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, business executives, and U.S. investors.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with a cross-section of the Cameroonian Diaspora in the United States of America before returning to Cameroon.

This is Prime Minister Yang’s first working visit to the United States since becoming Prime Minister and Head of Government of Cameroon. It has become a practice for the Cameroonian Head of government to attend these yearly meetings of the Corporate Council for Africa.

The theme for this year’s conference is, “Building Dynamic Growth in Africa”. The conference will focus on key sectors ripe for U.S. investment, including information and communication technology, alternative energy, civil aviation, roads and ports, and human security. Project financing will be another focus as well as discussions on ways to mitigate the effects of climate change on Africa.

The public is hereby informed that starting from January 13th 2010, the Embassy of Cameroon in Washington DC will proceed with issuing the new Cameroonian Passport called "Machine-Readable Passport".

All those wishing to have the aforementioned travel document issued to them, or who seek information to this effect are kindly requested to consult the Embassy Website at www.cameroonembassyusa.org or to contact the Consular Section of the Embassy by e-mail at cs@cameroonembassyusa.org. They can also call (202) 265-8790, Ext. 20 or Ext. 33 to talk to a Consular Officer.
